JMS Selector usage inside TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.x

When we are using TIBCO BW software to develop our integration or processes it is so normal to integrate these processes with a messaging system. TIBCO BW is main to be integrated with an JMS Message systems (specially TIBCO EMS but any system that is JMS complaint will be suitable for the task. Messaging systems have too many advantages to be included in our processes. A few of them are realiability, asynchonous, persistence, priority…

So, the main goal of this post is not to talk about the advatange of these systems becase I guess all of you embrace them at this point but to talk about one the technical aspects of this JMS systems and it is JMS Selectors.

Graphical EMS – Administration Tool

When you are working with the TIBCO suite is for sure you have to face some aspects of the TIBCO Enterprise Message Service (a.k.a EMS) configuration. The main administration tool for TIBCO EMS in the command line program tibemsd, that you can find in the <TIBCO_HOME>/ems/<version>/bin  folder.

Connecting TIBCO BW with ActiveMQ

Usually, when we work with the TIBCO technology and with TIBCO BW in particular we are going to do a huge use of the JMS technology and to accomplish these tasks we usually use the TIBCO EMS as a JMS provider, because it is included in the default TIBCO BW installation. But in some organization they already have an JMS broker that are being using in some parts you have to integrate, because some of the particular features of their business and you have to get along with it.

In this post I’m going to show you how you can connect your TIBCO BW process with one of the best free and open source JMS providers, such as Apache ActiveMQ.
